Analysis of the current internal and external environment and trends in the chloroethanol industry

In recent years, affected by the epidemic, the U.S. consumer confidence is sluggish, corporate scandals continue; Japan held the Olympic Games ineffective; Europe in telecommunications and other high-tech areas of over-investment; the world economy has had a huge impact. The U.S., Japan and Europe three major economies fell into recession at the same time, although the U.S. in due to expansionary fiscal policy to make demand increase, but the overall recovery of the Western countries is slow; therefore, the economic relationship between the U.S. and Europe drop become more delicate and tense, uncertainty increased, thus affecting the confidence of investment and trade capital. The political and economic changes in the above countries have greatly affected the global political and economic development, but the fight against the epidemic, development and peace are still the two themes of the whole world. In the whole global economic development, 2-chloroethanol industry shows the main trends of globalization, industrial restructuring, global reform and technological progress.

The 2-chloroethanol industry is under the influence of the current domestic economic cycle model, combined with the 2-chloroethanol industry, the model reveals the principle of economic fluctuations: when inflation lags behind the rate of sustainable economic growth, indicating that the economy has excess capacity, the government will actively take measures to stimulate the economy and reduce costs to prompt economic recovery; if inflation exceeds the rate of sustainable economic growth, to cool the economy to jump 2-chloroethanol Industry development progress.

Chloroethanol is an important organic solvent and raw material for organic synthesis. In addition to the production of ethylene oxide, it is also an important raw material for the synthesis of polysulfide rubber, and is widely used as an intermediate in pharmaceuticals, dyes, pesticides, and as a water treatment agent and organic solvent. There are two main specifications of industrially prepared chloroethanol, namely high purity chloroethanol (90% or more) and chloroethanol (32%). However, the chlorine ethanol aqueous solution obtained by hypochlorination, its initial concentration is generally only 4% to 7%, the water needs to be removed by continuous distillation, in order to obtain a concentration of 32% or more of the product. To obtain high concentration of chloroethanol, we need to distill the chloroethanol product with a concentration of 32% in a constant boiling distillation column with benzene to further remove the water, and then remove the residual benzene and some high boiling substances in the constant boiling distillation by reduced pressure distillation, and then we can obtain 90% to 95% high purity chloroethanol.

  Chloroethanol - Production Method

Chloroethanol method: Alcohol is used as raw material, and ethylene is produced by dehydration catalyzed by alumina, which is passed into water at the same time with chlorine, and hypochlorous acid is produced by the reaction between chlorine and water, and dilute chloroethanol is obtained by the addition of hypochlorous acid and ethylene, and the finished product is obtained by neutralization and distillation.

Hydrochloric acid method: Hydrochloric acid and ethylene oxide are used as raw materials and reacted by heating.

  Chloroethanol - Safety

Toxic, hydrogen chloride is produced by hydrolysis in body tissues. Inhalation of high concentrations of chloroethanol vapor or absorption through skin contact can cause vomiting, headache, tremors, drop in body temperature, paralysis of the limbs, and pain in the heart area, resulting in death. In most cases, it takes several hours after poisoning to fall into a critical state. In severe cases, it starts with severe headache, followed by paralysis, diarrhea, repeated vomiting, thirst, burning eyes, and finally acute death. Oral LD50 95rng/kg in rats, LC32×10-6 in air, maximum allowable concentration 5×10-6 in workplace air, to prevent poisoning, equipment should be sealed, production site requires good ventilation, operators should wear masks, gloves and other protective gear. But rubber gloves can not play a protective role, because the chlorine ethanol will be through the rubber gloves and skin contact and cause harm. If there is chlorine ethanol on clothes, you should take it off immediately, and if there is chlorine ethanol on skin, you should wash it with soap and then rinse it with plenty of water.

Generally transported by tanker, avoid impact. It can also be packed in iron drums of 200kg each to prevent direct contact and vapor escape. It should be stored and transported according to the regulations of toxic substances.

  Chloroethanol preparation methods

At present, there are two main methods of industrial preparation of chloroethanol, namely hypochlorous acid method and ethylene oxide method. The domestic production of chloroethanol mainly uses hypochlorite method, that is, ethylene and chlorine gas at the same time into the water, chlorine and water reaction to produce hypochlorous acid, hypochlorous acid and ethylene addition to produce chloroethanol. The initial content of the aqueous solution of chloroethanol obtained by hypochlorite is low, generally only 4% to 7% (mass fraction), and the water needs to be removed by continuous distillation to obtain a chloroethanol product with a mass fraction of 32%. The high concentration of chloroethanol is further azeotropic distillation to remove the water, and then reduced pressure distillation to remove the residual benzene and some high boiling substances, then you can get 90% to 95% mass fraction of high-purity chloroethanol. However, the reaction inevitably produces dichloroethane and dichlorodiethyl ether as by-products. Therefore, the process has a low chlorine uptake and high energy consumption, making its application somewhat limited. High concentration of chloroethanol is an important organic chemical raw materials, mainly used in the production of polysulfide rubber, but also in medicine, pesticides, accelerators, foaming agents, flame retardants and other aspects also have a wide range of uses. At present, foreign countries generally use ethylene oxide and hydrogen chloride to produce high-concentration chloroethanol. In China, ethylene hypochlorination is still used to produce 32% dilute chloroethanol. Due to the low concentration of chloroethanol, its use is somewhat limited. Chloroethanol synthesized by the ethylene oxide method has high purity (more than 90 %) and is widely used. Therefore, the development of this technology has good economic and social benefits.

Development of a new process for the refinement of chloroethanol by the chloroethanol method

Chloroethanol is an important organic solvent and raw material for organic synthesis. In addition to the production of ethylene oxide, it is an important raw material for the synthesis of polysulfide rubber, and is widely used as an intermediate in medicine, dyestuffs, pesticides, and as a water treatment agent and organic solvent. To obtain high concentration of chlorine ethanol, it is necessary to distill the chlorine ethanol product with a concentration of 32% in a constant-boiling distillation tower with benzene for constant-boiling distillation to further remove the water, and then remove the residual benzene and some high boiling substances in the constant-boiling distillation by reduced-pressure distillation to obtain 90% to 95% of high-purity chlorine ethanol. Since the original process has the disadvantage of low absorption of chlorine gas and high energy consumption, this process uses aqueous solution of chloroethanol (the original process is water) as the absorbent, which is a good solution to this problem.

Overseas, ethylene oxide and hydrogen chloride are commonly used as raw materials to produce high concentration of chloroethanol. This process first distills the hydrochloride to prepare high-purity hydrogen chloride, and then synthesizes it with ethylene oxide in liquid phase under certain conditions, neutralizes it, and distills it to obtain high concentration of chloroethanol. The purity of the product can be 98% (mass fraction) or more. This process has the advantages of short process, high product purity and low pollution compared with hypochlorite method, but the purification process of HCl gas, the reaction raw material, is more expensive.
