Usage of 2-chloroethanol

It is used in the manufacture of ethylene glycol, ethylene oxide, medicine, dye and pesticide synthesis. 2-chloroethanol reacts with sodium sulfide to give thiodiglycol, which is not only a printing and dyeing solvent for textiles, but also a vat dye and plasticizer for poly (methylene chloride). In the pharmaceutical industry, 2-chloroethanol is used in the production of piperazine phosphate, furazolidone, tetraimidazole, quascalin and procaine, and used as raw material of pesticide 1059 in pesticide production. 2-chloroethylamine hydrochloride was synthesized from 2-chloroethanol by ammoniation and chlorination. It is a pharmaceutical intermediate and used in the manufacture of quchongjing.
